The Nuclear Sector Skills Team is proud to have been highly commended in the Best Collaborative Teamwork Project category at the CIPS ‘Excellence in Procurement and Supply’ awards on 10 September 2026.

This is fantastic recognition from the Chartered Institute of Procurement & Supply of the Nuclear Sector Skills Team's procurement project - putting in place a collaborative, first of a kind commercial approach across multiple delivery partners to award 8 contracts worth over £20m to deliver the schemes in the Nuclear Skills Plan over the next 5 years.

These projects are now up and running to deliver a wide range of initiatives to address the critical skills gap, including our marketing campaign and careers portal Destination Nuclear; student bursaries for people from lower socio-economic backgrounds; teacher training bursaries and supporting sector experts into teacher and training roles. 

Ahead of the awards, Mark Rouse, Skills Director, reflected on the significant progress that the team has made in the first two years of delivering the Nuclear Skills Plan and thanked everyone who has helped us get this far.
