Leaders from industry, education and government gathered at the Scottish Parliament on 17 September to showcase the Scotland Nuclear Skills Hub and its role in supporting delivery of the UK wide Nuclear Skills Plan.
The event highlighted how collaboration across Scotland's nuclear sector is helping to build the skilled workforce needed for the future, bringing together employers, colleges, universities and skills organisations.
Built around the theme “Skills for Nuclear, Skills for Life”, the Hub aims to widen access to careers, strengthen skills development and help retain talent in Scotland, ensuring communities can benefit from the sector's continued growth.
Scotland's nuclear sector already makes a significant contribution to the economy, generating £1.5 billion in 2024 and supporting thousands of jobs across the country. The sector also plays an important role in inclusive growth, with around 30% of direct employment located in Scotland's most deprived communities.
Guests heard from industry and political leaders and explored interactive exhibits showcasing the wide range of careers, training opportunities and innovative technologies across the nuclear sector.

By aligning education, training and industry needs, the hub is creating opportunities for people across Scotland, supporting local economic growth and building the workforce required for the UK's nuclear programme in the years ahead."
The Scotland Nuclear Skills Hub is co-chaired by Babcock and Nuclear Restoration Services (NRS) and is helping to ensure Scotland is well placed to meet future workforce demands while creating lasting opportunities for individuals, communities and the wider economy.
