This week is National Apprenticeship Week, a week-long celebration that brings together businesses and apprentices across the country to shine a light on the positive impact that apprenticeships make to individuals, businesses and the wider economy.

The Nuclear Skills Plan is committed to expanding entry routes into nuclear careers through more apprenticeships, graduate schemes and PhDs as part of our mission to grow the UK’s nuclear workforce. In FY 2024/25, nearly 3,500 early-career starters joined the nuclear sector and 2,200 of these were apprentices. In FY 2025/26, we have aimed even higher with plans to recruit around 2,500 apprentices before the end of the financial year!

Whether you’re into engineering, science, business, operations, or project management, an apprenticeship could be the first step to building a rewarding career in nuclear, working on projects that are critical to the UK’s energy and national security.

So, if you’re at the start of your career, switching careers or just looking for a new challenge, head to Destination Nuclear to hear first-hand about how an apprenticeship could be your gateway to an exciting career in nuclear and visit our careers portal to explore the apprenticeship opportunities available to you.
